Glynneath 5 Event Instructions

Thank you for your interest in our event. The below is a summary of the event instructions

The event is organised and hosted by Glynneath AC

The race will be held under UK Athletics rules and is suitable for runners of all abilities.

The entry fee for affiliated participants is £7.00 and £8.00 for non affiliated. Entry on the day is £10.00

The event headquarters is the Glynneath Social Club

Directions to the start of the race will be given at the Social Club

Parking will be on the High Street (opposite the event headquarters). Parking is free; however all parking of vehicles is at the owner’s risk. Participants can also park at the race start.

Toilet facilities will be provided at the event. Participants should bring a change of clothing and waterproof clothing in case of poor weather.

To minimise any delays please be AT LEAST 1 HOUR EARLY.

The run will start at approximately 11:00am and will take place in a safe traffic free environment along the Neath Valley

At the start please ensure your starting position matches your pace – i.e. slower runners must position themselves towards the back of the field.

The course will be on tarmac surface and is considered flat with a few mild undulations. There will be mile markers and water stations are on route.

There will be professional photographers ( Sporty Snaps ) at the event – don’t forget to give a smile when passing the camera especially at the finish (if possible).

Due to the time of the year, it is advisable to bring suitable clothing to possibly wear during the run, to safeguard against the possible conditions.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category. Trophies will be awarded to the first three to finish in each of the categories. There will be an event medal for all participants. There will also be spot prizes and a prize for the best fancy dress

The race number is supplied as part of this pack. Numbers must be worn on the front – please supply your own safety pins.

There will be an announcement 10 minutes prior to the start of the event; when participants must report to the start line of their event. A safety de-brief will be given at this time. At the race finish participants are encouraged to leave the finish area as quickly as possible.

Winning race results will be provided at the prize giving ceremony soon after the main event has finished. All other race results will be posted onto the event web site.

There will be light refreshments available at the event to include teas, coffees, soft drinks and light snacks.

Please remember you are responsible for your own safety for the duration of the event.
